Future – HNDRXX (review)

Had chance to listen to “HNDRXX” by Future which comes only a week after dropping his self titled album “Future”. Last week I was extremely critical of his project because of it’s lack of diversity and content. While he is not lyrically gifted as a Remy Ma who just bodied Nicki Minaj on the diss track titled “shEther” (click here to for YouTube link); I will say that Future definitely did not disappoint listeners as much as last week in my opinion. There is some life, interest and optimism that Future is not spiraling down hill after his departure from former pop star, Ciara. He has managed to drop a couple of bangers since then but has kept fans on a roller-coaster of emotions with hits and misses in music. I’m not a fan of him singing, which gets annoying pretty frequently throughout the project as well as others because he sounds like he is crying and whining through auto tune. “HNDRXX” not as hype as other projects we’ve heard from Future in the past but still manages to pack strong punches from the 808s throughout the album. I will say I’m impressed that this album comes so quick after disappointing quite a few listeners last week. While this may not make my repeats list this week, I wouldn’t mind having a few tracks into that “Workout Playlist” with the energy he brings.
